Tin Pan Alley Portraits

Jacob Joseph Norris is a freestyle artist.  He loves to dream up new ways to bring people together and to help them open their hearts.   When the idea was proposed to Jacob to hang his work at the Tin Pan Theatre, Jacob blew up with inspired dreams and aspirations for his continuing art career.  Since his first successful show in 2006 at the Sparrow Bakery, Jacob has worked in two very different modalities; one was a more formal approach dealing mainly with oil landscapes and some still life shown in frames designed by his father, he has shown this type of work at various coffee shops and at the High Desert Gallery in downtown Bend.  Though Jacob loves the meditation and serenity of painting plein air, he always loves to step out of his norm and explore all the passions that call to him.  Currently, he has been enthralled with leaving early in the morning and heading out into the world to find a character to paint.  Whenever he is limited by weather, he likes to step into a coffee shop and draw someone's portrait, and now he has taken that to a new level by having someone step out of the coffee shop into Tin Pan Alley to paint their portrait.  He intends to continue his artistic duality by painting in his more formal approach, but also he is excited to invite those who want to commission him for more spontaneous peices, such as small paintings of birds, of a moment, an alleyway portrait, or even just to capture some of the special moments in life, like being eight months pregnant, getting married, or even wanting to savor a special meal or masterpiece that can be captured in a still life.  He is also hopeful that he can bring a light heart into the Tin Pan Theatre and share the feeling of that open heart with all that wander in.
